Since the 2018 vintage, Matthias Trummer has been continuing his craft but evolving too, and finding a renewed focus with greater consistency, more variety and even greater relish. The winemaker has officially made his love of varieties his trademark. It now reads: "Varieties. Typical."
Vintage after vintage he takes us on a journey into the fascination of varietals, into the individualistic, quite precisely expressed typicities, with all their characteristics.
Matthias Trummer is convinced that wine shows its true character in the variety; from the development of the typical taste and aromas. His credo: "The best wine is committed to its variety, not its site." The site is an important tool, but just not more for him. The very best grape material is nurtured towards its "Pure Soul".
This means absolute ripeness, absolute concentration, absolute density, harvested even later, even more reduced in yield, the best grapes of the vintage as the essence of the variety.
The wines can be tasted most atmospherically in the magnificently located Buschenschank. On beautiful summer or autumn days, you can sit under the vines and enjoy a fantastic panoramic view over southern Styria to the Koralpe.
You can also enjoy Trummer's exceptional wines with hearty dishes from the house's own free-range Turopolje and Schwäbisch-Häll pigs.
